Hi! I'm Catherine Lovett!

It was the winter of 2024, and I was working away from home for a Christmas job. The days were long, and I was running out of time and energy to source presents for my family and friends. I decided that this was the year of homemade bakes - easily batch made, tasty, and homely. One of the things that I gifted was a package of fudge from a recipe I'd found.

As they always do when you gift a handmade present, my family started to say "you could sell that, it's really good!" I thought they were being kind.

But then they kept saying it.

They kept asking if I could make it again.

I started to think perhaps I could sell it. So I tried.

It feels like such a risk to ask people to pay for something you're making by hand, but the orders started to trickle in.

I started to invent new flavours, and established packaging, then branding and colours.

At first, I was calling myself "Fudge It!" This wasn't a great idea, as there are many fudge businesses called "Fudge It!", and nobody could find me.

So I started to use my name, after all - it is my business ^.^

Then came a website, and more orders, starting to go a little further afield. I started attending events, and meeting other small businesses in the area. People were ordering as gifts for their loved ones and THAT was a wonderful feeling!

Then, in September 2024, I got a shoutout on Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe's Parenting Hell Podcast. Standing in the check-in queue on the way home from a family holiday in Venice, orders started pinging in from ALL OVER THE COUNTRY!

It gave me such a boost in sales and visibility and confidence! I even had orders coming from people in Australia who were ordering for their family in the UK. Australia!!! Utterly bonkers!

I started to attend wedding fairs and offered fudge platters, wedding favours, gift boxes, and table settings. I found that couples enjoyed the idea of something different, especially something tasty!

At all my events, I always make sure to take plenty of samples. One thing I firmly believe is that this fudge is delicious, and once you taste it - you'll want to buy it! One of my favourite things is seeing somebody try it for the first time, and seeing the reaction on their face.

Especially when they've said they don't like fudge, or they "don't like lemon", then they try a piece, and walk away with a box! There's something very gratifying about converting somebody haha.

I don't know what the future holds for Lovett Fudge, but I know it will be sweet, and joyful.

Everyone deserves a sweet treat xx
